We were part of the #GameChanger project, developed by TechSoup Europe, through which we used gamification to engage over 50 children aged 10 to 16 from several rural communities in Romania. The goal was to introduce them to tools for reducing polarization, discrimination, cyberbullying, and online phenomena such as hate speech.
Through role-playing games, we helped children understand these issues more deeply and relate to one another in more empathetic and respectful ways.
Game Changer promotes tolerance, respect and civic engagement among young people to prevent polarization within communities. Through education, online social media campaigns, and social city games, Game Changer encourages youth to be more accepting of cultural differences, personal preferences and to engage in dialogue to eliminate cultural and lifestyle misconceptions.
